What we offer

The play leader registers each child individually and assumes responsibility for them as they enter the pre-school. Staff will have set up a range of play activities in preparation for the children's arrival to encourage children to participate in, for example, imaginative role play, constructive play or creative play. This will have been structured in order to enable the children to progress towards the Early Learning Goals.

Once the children have settle in their chosen activity, staff and helpers join them and assume the role as a play partner. In addition, during this time, staff may work with individual children, a pair, or a small group on a variety of activities. They may also take the opportunity to carry out some informal assessments.

Outings and Visitors

Outings and interesting visitors are planned regularly. They may include the following:

Trips to Paignton Zoo, farm, Tiverton Castle, lifeboat, beach, museum, donkey sanctuary, garden centre A walk in the woods Harvest Festival at the local church with Culmstock Primary School Animal safari Visits from a policeman and his car, a dental nurse, a nurse, a road safety officer
