We are a small, warm and friendly playgroup, established to meet the childcare needs of the local community and run as a registered charity.
Here are some extracts from our most recent (February 2010):
'Staff have a comprehensive knowledge of the EYFS and each child's individual needs, which ensures they promote children's welfare, learning and development very effectively.'
'Excellent partnerships with parents enable staff to identify children's needs from as soon as they start at the setting and continuous communication ensures they provide consistent care.'
'The child-centred, welcoming environment is extremely well organised to enable children to make choices and become independent learners.'
+MoreCulmstock Pre-school Playgroup is a small, friendly playgroup catering for 3-5 year olds in Culmstock and surrounding area. We are Ofsted registered and also a registered charity.
We have been established for over thirty years providing top quality child care that evolves to meet the community's changing needs, yet holds true to our aims:
Our aim as a Pre-school playgroup is to provide a safe, secure and stimulating play environment in which children can learn through planned activities that are well resourced while also giving children the freedom to develop according to their individual needs.
+MoreThe play leader registers each child individually and assumes responsibility for them as they enter the pre-school. Staff will have set up a range of play activities in preparation for the children's arrival to encourage children to participate in, for example, imaginative role play, constructive play or creative play. This will have been structured in order to enable the children to progress towards the Early Learning Goals.
Once the children have settle in their chosen activity, staff and helpers join them and assume the role as a play partner. In addition, during this time, staff may work with individual children, a pair, or a small group on a variety of activities. They may also take the opportunity to carry out some informal assessments.
